I will start to tell an ancient story...

 In that place was an old castle, built by the King of Aragon, Martin the Humane (Count of Barcelona), who had adopted him as a summer residence in 1410. It was here that the king married Margaret of Prades. Gaudí took the few remain in elements of the old fort (walls, courtyard, etc..) To build the new Bellesguard. That's why the house has an external appearance of the castle, including the battlements.
