What is Vinçon?
Vinçon is a retail company that specializes in contemporary design homeware products. We currently have a store in Barcelona and an on-line shop, vincon.com.The Barcelona Store holds La Sala Vinçon, an exhibition hall orientated towards industrial and graphic design.

Barcelona shop
The shop is treated as a window display so that when taking a walk through it your experience becomes a unique one and different to what you would feel in a department store.
The Barcelona shop has been constantly reshaped as its sales area has expanded and is situated in Passeig de Gràcia in a listed building forming part of Barcelona’s architectural heritage. It was designed by architect Antoni Rovira i Rabassa in 1899 and belonged to painter Ramón Casas.
Around the 50’s, the main floor was occupied by the company Assumption Couture Bastida.
One of the most interesting extensions happened in 1985 when the main floor of the building was annexed. Access to the interior terrace is through this space, where the furniture department is currently held. It is home to one of the most beautiful patios found in the Barcelona Eixample district.
From the terrace you can admire the Pedrera building by Gaudi in great detail from the back, which is situated in the same block.
The areas which used to be used for warehousing have been transformed over the years into shop floor space with access from different streets.
Since 1973, Vinçon Barcelona is home to La Sala Vinçon, an art gallery specialized in the industrial and graphic design field.
The fact that the shop is housed in a listed building for its architecture is not a burden. Respectful and responsible use and conservation allows us to display Vinçon products in what was once a dwelling.

Bags
Since the logo designed by América Sánchez in 1972, the firm's graphic designs have been constantly evolving, its packaging being the most characteristic element. Vinçon bags are part of the iconography of the city and have become cult objects and collectibles. George Hardy, Pati Núñez, Mariscal, Juli Capella and Barbara Kruger are some of the professionals that have made this happen.

Window display
In the book published for the European Community Design Prize awards, some of the highlights refer to the window displays, it says: “The most suggestive window displays of the city that manages to continuously surprise passer-bys”.
Those display assemblies which are handed out to pedestrians have two acts and a lot of interpreters. In the first part, the participants are the thousands of people that travel along Passeig de Gràcia on a daily basis, a boulevard sprinkled with some of the most beautiful and representative buildings of modernist architecture, one of which is home to the Vinçon shop, and almost the most famous and most photographed buildings of all: La Pedrera, by Gaudí.
The second part requires more active participation: if there is an interest in the implicit commercial message being conveyed, you have to stop and take a long steady look.
Ultimately, it’s not about looping the loop but about seeing things from a different perspective. At least in this case, practice proves that using a bit of poetry in the comercial world is an added asset.
